Situated in the coastal village of Monkseaton we are perfectly positioned for brides based in North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Newcastle upon Tyne and Wearside.
It has also been my pleasure to accommodate brides from as far afield as beautiful ‘Bonny’ Scotland.
Simply Wed Bridal prides itself on the bridal experience offering sample dresses to try from size 10-30. Hi, I’m Helen the owner and I guarantee a warm, friendly attentive service.
My bridal boutique offers an appointment-only system which ensures brides and their guests are not disturbed and are given the opportunity to create those beautiful memories and ensure that the time spent is simply all about ‘you’.
There is a variety of different designer dresses available to try, some of which are exclusive to Simply Wed Bridal; all of which offer high-quality fabrics and attention to detail.
Dresses start at £1000 and range up to £3600 to order in new. I would recommend 12-14 months prior to your wedding date to start looking for your gown to allow for dress delivery times and allow plenty of time for additional alterations for your perfect fit.
For brides with less time on their hands please don’t despair some sample / off-the-rail gowns are also available to purchase from 50% off the RRP.

Hi there!
Let me introduce myself, my name is Helen, and I am the owner of Simply Wed Bridal Limited in Monkseaton.
I was born in County Durham and now live in the beautiful seaside resort of Whitley Bay on the North East Coast.
I’m married to Paul; he is my best friend and makes me laugh every day. I am blessed with 2 fabulous stepchildren and Katie is my naughty tabby cat, she makes up our family unit.
So, a little bit more about me. I love winter fashion, chunky knits, all animals, (especially Staffordshire Bull Terriers) a cup of tea, walks out, nights in, holidays, a good book, cups of tea, cheese & crackers, red wine, crisps and a decent cup of tea. (I love tea, can you tell?) All the simple things.
My bridal career started in 2020, before then I spent 24 years in aviation initially as cabin crew and then for the last 15 years as a cabin crew performance trainer. I loved it, but it was time for a new challenge.
The transition from aviation into weddings was more natural than I expected, and I was helped by my friend Wendy, who is extremely knowledgeable having worked in the bridal industry for over 20 years, previously managing her own boutique. She became my mentor and I will forever be eternally grateful to her for her advice and support.
The bridal industry is amazing and I feel it really plays to my strengths.
So much of it is all about customer service and it has enabled me to combine my love of all things ‘wedding’ with my passion for customer care. It is the best job in the world.
The Browsing Experience.
It is exactly what you would expect. You are welcomed into the boutique for a 30-minute appointment. During this appointment we will sit down and discuss your plans for your wedding day, any questions that you may have regarding searching for your dress and we will get to know each other a bit……all with a nice cup of tea/ coffee.
I will then show you around the boutique and you will have an opportunity to browse through the different wedding gowns. Following this an appointment can be arranged for you to come in and try on dresses. This takes place during your ‘bridal consultation.’
The ‘browsing experience’ is about allaying any fears or apprehension that you may have about trying on gowns. Not all brides will need this service, however those that have used it have all commented on how nice they found it and how it helped to combat any nerves they initially had.
The Bridal Consultation.
This is a 2-hour experience where you get to explore the beautiful dresses and accessories. As I like to offer an intimate appointment and have limited seating you are invited to bring up to three guests with you to enjoy this time.
Bring along somebody who truly knows you and your style, someone who is honest and supportive and who will make the experience an enjoyable stress free one. They will sit down, relax, have a glass of fizz or a cuppa whilst you slip in and out of gowns.
It’s a non-pressurised environment which is all about making you feel comfortable and confident. I will encourage you to try on different fabrics, silhouettes and embellishments to see what you prefer. I may even throw in a ‘Wild card’ or 2.
It is important that you are honest with me about likes and dislikes as I would be with you. This is one of the most important days of your life, you not only have to look incredible but more importantly feel incredible. If you are unable to decide on the day, don’t panic. We can offer a follow up appointment where you can revisit your favourites and say ‘YES’ to your dress.
The bridal consultation is one of the most exciting parts of a brides wedding journey. Here at Simply Wed Bridal it is not just about buying a gown, it is about creating memories and having the best ‘bridal experience’

Your dress has arrived.
Once your dress is ready to be dispatched into the boutique you will be informed via your chosen method of communication. If there is an outstanding balance you will be asked to settle this and then your beautiful gown made available for you to try on.
This is a 30 minute appointment at a time and day that is convenient for you, so you can come back in and try on YOUR dress for the very first time. If you haven’t already decided you may also want to take this opportunity to try on a selection of veils/capes to compliment your gorgeous gown.
Your dress may need to be altered so it fits you like a glove. This is quite normal to ensure that perfect fit. At this point I will remind you of the details of a recommended seamstress to assist you, however you may wish to use somebody of your own choosing. Alterations are not included in the price of your gown so payments will be made directly to the seamstress.
Second Visit / Accessories.
This is a 60 minute appointment which is available for brides to be that have visited before and needed a little more time to make a decision. This time allows you to try on a couple of gowns you’ve previously loved to help you decide. This appointment also lends itself nicely to brides who would like to try on any accessories and can be utilised for brides who have bought gowns elsewhere.
Once you have booked your wedding date and confirmed your venue I would recommend starting to look for your dress approximately 12-14 months before your wedding.
Obviously have a little look online, take some screen shots of what dresses you think you might like to try and importantly do a little bit of research about where you would like to visit.
I would advise narrowing dress shops down to where you know you will find designers you like, where reviews from past brides have been good and where you can find assorted styles, sizes, and fabrics.
Some brides find their dream dress almost instantly and others may need to visit a few boutiques and need more time in making decisions. It all depends on the individual.
There are so many ways. On the website simply click here to book an appointment and this will open up a calendar for you so that you can choose the type of appointment you want at a date and time that is suitable for yourself.
On Facebook and Instagram you can also click onto the contact us button which will open the appointments calendar and finally, slightly more personal you can drop me a text or give me a call on my business mobile.
Currently I do not charge for appointments, all that I would ask is if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment you, please do it in advance to enable others to take advantage of time slots. The online calendar will send you an appointment reminder approximately 24 hours before which allows any amendments or cancellations.
You have your own private changing area to ensure your privacy so I would recommend only a seamless pair of nude knickers. A bra isn’t required as the majority of dresses have internal structure to help you feel supported. If you feel you need the support though, a strapless bra could be worn. A lot of the dresses have such beautiful backs that you may then want to take it off so you can see the detail to its fullest. Brides also find it helpful to bring a hair clip or bobble with them as well so that they can envisage different hair styles with different gowns,
I would kindly request that you please don’t wear fake tan and keep your makeup to a minimum to ensure that our dresses are kept as beautiful as possible for my brides to be.
I don’t have a waiting area so if you are early please enjoy a stroll through the lovely village or pop in for a cuppa in one of the beautiful cafes nearby. Alternatively you could wait in your car for a few moments until your appointment time. This is to ensure that I can make sure everything is perfect for your arrival.
If you are running a little late please call ahead to give me an idea of an expected arrival time. Every effort will be made to accommodate you however it may eat into your appointment time if another bride is booked in after you.
I would never say no however I would like to offer a little advice before you do. The sample gowns that I have in store will not fit you as perfectly as ‘your dream dress’ will. Some will need pinning to fit, a panel putting in or simply be out of proportion to your body shape.
I would ask you to focus on how the dress makes you feel, the reactions from your loved ones of you in the dress. This is the important stuff. If you take a photo to look back on you will look at the imperfections of an ill-fitting dress rather than focusing on the foresight that you felt when looking in the mirror. My advice would be to simply book in again if it is a dress you keep thinking back too and simply putting it on again to see if those feelings are still there. You could book in for a 60 minute ‘Second visit appointment’ to enjoy that feeling all over again.
As I am a small boutique which offers a personal, intimate experience with limited seating I request that you bring a maximum of 3 guests with you. (This does include children under 16 and babies who would need to be looked after throughout the appointment)
Remember this appointment is all about offering you the best experience possible, one where you are the centre of attention. If you think about weddings you might have attended in the past, what is the one thing you look forward to……seeing the blushing bride looking incredible in her dress.
That ‘wow’ on your guests, bridesmaids faces is a stunning photograph for your photographer to capture. The genuine emotion felt when people you love see you on arguably the biggest day of your life for the first time in your dress.
As your dress is being made to order from scratch and alterations may need to be carried out to ensure the perfect fit, I would suggest that your dress is ordered approximately 10 months before your wedding date. Dependant on the designer, dresses can take 5-6months to arrive in store and then most seamstresses will ask you to allow 6-8weeks for tweaks and alterations.
Naturally you can order your dress earlier than this and on placing your order you will be required to pay your deposit and options regarding the balance payment will be given to you. Please ask about these options.
After saying yes to your dress, your body measurements will be taken and we will consult with that particular designers size chart to order the size closest to you. You will be given terms and conditions of sale before paying the deposit and passed on details of a recommended seamstress.
Please note:- If you are planning on making any substantial changes to your body shape before your wedding such as dramatic weight loss or weight gain then please get to a place where you are happy with your shape before committing to your dress. My reason for this is that your perception of yourself may change. You may consider styles that you wouldn’t have before etc and orders are non-refundable.
Once your dress is ready with the supplier you will be asked to settle any outstanding balance and YOUR dress will be called into store for you to try on for the very first time_ Woo-hoo. At this point you will be asked to book in for a ‘your dress has arrived’ appointment.
